BJP Shillong city general secretary, Rocky Hek has resigned from the party and will contest the 2023 elections from Pynthorukhrah constituency on a National People’s Party (NPP) ticket.
Hek, who is the nephew of BJP MLA from Pynthorumkhrah, AL Hek told reporters that he did not get the recognition he deserves working with the saffron party for close to four years.
“I have tendered my resignation today to the BJP State president but I will continue to serve the people,” he told reporters today.
According to Hek the BJP had already zeroed down on a candidate to contest from the North Shillong constituency, a seat where he aims to contest.
“I have met with NPP leader and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong and I will contest from Pynthorumkhrah on an NPP ticket,” he said.
Hek said he has nothing against his uncle. “In politics there are not permanent friends and foes. I respect my uncle and the decision to contest from the same constituency has been taken by family and supporters,” he added.
