Street vendors and hawkers organised a clean-up drive in various locations within the city today.
The drive was organised by the Meghalaya & Greater Shillong Progressive Hawkers and Street Vendors Association started at 8 am with participation of all its members with an aim to make Shillong clean.
The association general secretary Shane Thabah said the vendors and hawkers will put in its efforts to achieve a clean and safe city.
He said the association is also concerned about the threat of single use plastic bags and will soon announce its decision on how to fight the menace and at the same time how street vendors can earn their livelihood without any hindrance.
