Shillong Cricket Association (B) stormed past East Khasi Hills by 134 runs in Zone 1’s Group A of the Inter District U-19 Boys Cricket Tournament in Jowai today.
After winning the toss, SCA (B) amassed a huge 242/7 in 30 overs. Manthan Dey (76 from 78 balls, 13x4s) and Kshitij Singhania (79 from 67 balls, 8x4s, 3x6s) struck 172 runs for the second wicket while Jerimaiah L Kynshi struck a rapid 22 from 14 balls at the end of the innings. Thirty-seven extras also contributed to SCA (B)’s total.
In the chase, Vivek Kumar Ray starred with the ball, taking 3/21 in six overs. Just three batters from EKH got into double figures, with Hameki Susngi the top-scorer with 17, and the team were all out for 108 in 28.3 overs. Manthan also helped run out one batter and was thus named player-of-the-match.
Meanwhile, Zone 2’s action was meant to begin in Tura today, with Tura District CA up against South Garo Hills. However, the match had to be abandoned due to heavy rain.
Tomorrow, in Zone 1’s Group B, South West Khasi Hills will take on East Jaintia Hills, while in Zone 2 North Garo Hills will face East Garo Hills.
