Meghalaya will host the 83rd National Table Tennis Championship, 2022, which is the biggest tournament that the State would host and the second biggest tournament held in the region.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma made the announcement today. He said the championship will be held from April 18 to 25 at the SAI Indoor Training Centre, NEHU.
Sangma said the State is expecting close to 650 participants out of which 450 will be players and the rest will be coaches and supporting staff.
Approximately arrangements for about 300 rooms have been made, travel and other logistical arrangements have been made, he added.
This tournament is held keeping in mind the 50 year’s Statehood celebration of the state. The cost of hosting this tournament is expected to be Rs 1.5 crore and a total of 10 players from the state is expected to participate in the event.
