AL Hek has been made the chairman of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s central scheme monitoring committee, BJP state president Ernest Mawrie informed today.
The decision was made at a core committee meeting where Hek was unanimously chosen. Part of its campaign for the 2023 state election will be the BJP’s focus on alleged corruption and poor execution of central government schemes in Meghalaya.
After his appointment, Hek named three chairmen – Bernard Marak for Garo Hills, Bernadette Lyngdoh for Khasi Hills and Lakhan Biam for Jaintia Hills.
The three will now constitute their own committees and chalk out ensure smooth implementation of central schemes.
“This committee will ensure that schemes are reaching the people and see that they are functioning smoothly,” Hek said.
