With an aim to create mass awareness among the local population of Ri-Bhoi about the importance of water preservation and also to commemorate World Water Day, the office of the District Water and Sanitation Mission today organized a rally to carry the message forward.
World Water Day is observed on March 22 every year. Today’s pre-celebration saw a rally from the office premises of District Transport Officer to Nongpoh Town Urban Market Complex.
Youngsters, including students, took part in the rally carrying placards and banners to impart knowledge among the local residents to understand about the need for preservation of water.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, BJ Kharshandi, was the chief guest in the. Addressing the rally, Kharshandi said, “Nothing will be left here without water.”
The ADC added that responsible citizens of the country should work together to protect the environment and to preserve water by avoiding deforestation and unnecessary environmental destruction.
