The State government has appointed retired bureaucrat, Bhalang Dhar as the second Meghalaya Lokayukta chief.
Dhar will be administered the oath of affirmation by Governor Satya Pal Malik on January 31.
The post was vacant for almost eight months after the tenure of first chairman Justice (Retired) Pranoy Kumar Musahary ended on May 31 last year.
Earlier, in December, the selection committee had recommended the name of Dhar, former East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner as the chairperson of the Meghalaya Lokayukta.
