Premier N Sangma, a resident of East Garo Hills, who was allotted the haat has alleged manipulation in the allotment after his bid was done away with in favour of someone else who had earlier quoted a lower amount in the auction.
Sangma, through a complaint to the office of the Cotton, Jute, Betel Nut, Banana, Pineapple, Spices, Turmeric and Betel Leaf, has lodged a complaint after he was forced out of his bid after the eventual winner was allowed to quote a higher sum to win the bid.
Premier had quoted an amount of Rs 1.85 lakh and his name appeared as the highest bidder through a notification on December 10, 2021 for a haat. During this time, Pilson N Sangma, who was later favoured, had only bid Rs 1, 25,780 and failed the bid.
However Premier was in for a surprise when a second notification on December 13 showed Pilson, with a bid of Rs 1.96 lakh, as the highest bidder.
“It is unfair on your part to allow Pilson to add more to his bid through a second notification when I had won the bid during the open process. How can two bids be allowed for the same haat when the second bid is illegal,” said Premier through the complaint.
The ousted bidder has now sought a clarification on the contradictions in the process.
