The 55 BN of the Border Security Force (BSF), while continuing their vigilance of the border with Bangladesh, continued their celebration of the festive season along with residents of the border under South Garo Hills district.
The festive season of Christmas and New Year was celebrated with dancing and carol singing with the BSF orchestra churning out blockbuster hits by the dozen.
“Christmas is celebrated with much pomp and show. It is also a time for them to celebrate with their families through carol singing, dancing and overall jubilation. The villages are well decorated with lights and the celebration continues into the New Year as well,” said a press release.
The events and cultural programs organized saw the participation of children, youths and elders who danced to the songs of the band.
“This gesture was well appreciated by the border population and has helped bond with the local population. Cultural programs have been organized in the border villages and will continue until the first week of the New Year,” the BSF added.
