Sohra Government College has been awarded B+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
KHADC CEM, Titosstarwell Chyne has congratulated the college and urged the government to upgrade it by introducing Science and Commerce streams.
With the status, the college can now to initiate further quality enhancement measures in the next five years.
The institution has been accredited with a CGPA of 2.65 on a seven point scale at B+ grade valid for a period of 5 years from 21-12-2021.
During their visit to the college, the NAAC peer team were impressed with the various initiatives undertaken by the college to tackle high drop-out rates in rural areas, improve the pass percentage besides follow-ups with the students during the pandemic.
Initiated in the 1980s, Sohra became a government college in 2011 and it is the only government college in East Khasi Hills.
