The Youth Red Cross, Shillong College Unit today organised a talk on drug abuse and its effects as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Statehood of Meghalaya.
Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya state branch general secretary, AN Sawian attended the programme as the chief guest.
Phidahun Dkhar, Adolescence Councellor NHM Civil Hospital, Shillong and Iohun Dhar, Programme Manager TIFIDU (Female injecting Drug User) Voluntary Health Association of Meghalaya (VHAM) were the resource persons wherein they deliberated on the different types of drugs that can affect the well-being of an individual, the treatment that a person who needs help can avail, referring to free counselling by the Adolescence Counsellor at Civil Hospital Shillong.
A pledge taking ceremony was also held at the programme.
