Meghalaya’s first female professional race car driver, Phoebe Dale Nongrum is all set to make her debut in the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) 2021, to be held from December 17 to 19, 2021, in Visakhapatnam.
One of India’s first women Formula 4 drivers and the first from the Northeast, Nongrum will represent the entire Northeast in INRC category 4.
The INRC is a car rally sports event organised by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), India’s Governing Body recognised by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), culminating in the National Champion Driver and Co-Driver.
Vamshi Merla the promotor of INRC is supporting and sponsoring Nongrum. MRF will also be one of the sponsors.
Elated by the opportunity Nongrum told Highland Post, “I am out of words but definitely grateful to Vamshi Merla for his support for women in motorsports and mostly for believing in me and giving me a chance to debut in the INRC 2021. I also want to thank MRF for being the sponsor. I am looking forward to my debut and hoping to achieve great things with Vamshi and MRF.”
Nongrum will be joined by Ashwini Bogadi from Bangalore as her co-driver at the rally.
