The regional committees probing aspects of the disputed boundary between Meghalaya and Assam will get two to three more weeks to submit their respective reports in view of the by-elections that were held on October 30, which disrupted proceedings somewhat.
This was informed today by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who agreed this with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Sangma also said that the two CMs will conduct a joint visit of one or more of the 12 areas of difference between the two states sometime this month as a “confidence building” measure.
The regional committees have been given the responsibility of making joint visits to six areas of difference and were meant to hand in their reports on the subject by October 30.
