The three Assembly constituencies of Mawryngkneng, Mawphlang and Rajabala where by-elections will be held on October 30 have more women voters than men.
The by-elections were necessitated following the deaths of three sitting MLAs, David A. Nongrum (Mawryngkneng), Syntar Klas Sun (Mawphlang) and Dr. Azad Zaman (Rajabala).
As per the latest voters’ list, Mawryngkneng which has 60 polling stations also has a total of 36,751 voters. They include 18,986 female voters and 17,765 male voters.
In Mawphlang constituency, there are 50 polling booths with a total of 33,194 voters of which 17,475 are females and 15,719 males.
Rajabala constituency has 58 polling booths and a total of 32,750 voters. The constituency has 16,645 female and 16,105 male voters.
It may be noted that Rajabala also has a woman candidate contesting the by-poll.
Hasina Yasmin Mondal of Congress is pitted against four other candidates from this seat.
The State government has sought two additional companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) for the by-elections.
