The youngest brother of Congress MLA George B Lyngdoh was killed in a tragic accident when his vehicle burst into flames at Umsamlem village today.
Fedinand B Lyngdoh, who is an Assistant Professor in the Community Science College under the Central Agricultural University, Tura, was travelling to Shillong.
According to eyewitness the incident took place today at around 11 am at Umsamlem village under National Highway-6 in Ri Bhoi district.
The fire could be doused only after the arrival of the fire tender and police from Umsning.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known and the investigation to ascertain the cause is being investigated by Ri Bhoi police.
Meanwhile, the Shillong Press Club while condoling the death of Lyngdoh said that he was known by many as an academician par excellence serving the Garo hills.
“He was known to be a generous and kind soul whose comprehension of a variety of subjects and interests earned the respect and awe of many of his peers,” the SPC said.
