A bike rally and a cleaning drive was today organised by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) on the occasion of Pan India Awareness and Outreach Programme as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The programme started with flagging off of the bike rally by Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice, Biswanath Somadder.
Somadder, who is also the patron-in-chief of the MSLSA, spoke spoke on the importance of making justice accessible to all. During the campaign, the need to emphasize on making justice accessible to the marginalised and those residing in remote areas was stressed upon.
Officer on special duty to the MSLSA, T.T.M Sangma spoke on the significance of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the events planned till November 14.
Others present at the programme were Justice W. Diengdoh, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya; Registrar (Judicial Service), High Court of Meghalaya; District and Sessions Judge, East Khasi Hills District; Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District; Judicial Officers of District Court, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong; Officers of the Registry, High Court of Meghalaya; Members of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Police Personnel, other dignitaries, Students of Shillong Law College and Meghalaya Xpulse Riders.
The bike rally covered major areas of Shillong city and was followed by a cleaning drive.
Similarly, the West Garo Hills District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) also organised a cleaning drive at the District and Sessions Judge Court and Judicial Magistrate Court Complex today.
The DLSA also organised the drive at all the police stations in collaboration with the office of the Superintendent of Police and at Sella Wari in collaboration with the Nokmas and villagers of Dalmagre, Gongronggre, Songkonggre, Do.renggre, Sasatgre, Do.pananggre, Wa.kantagre and Asibra on the same day.
