To facilitate citizen engagement and participation in governance, the Meghalaya government today launched the ‘MyMeG’ programme to also mark International Democracy Day.
The program aims to connect with citizens through face-to-face and digital platforms that will facilitate citizen centric information on benefits of key schemes and programmes, track progress of the schemes, programs and initiatives at district, block, and village levels.
Through this program citizens can participate and share feedback and opinions through polls and surveys, engage through town hall meetings, outreach activities, digital quiz, and contest etc.
The knowledge management team are tasked to coordinate with the department and mobilize the program.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma who launched the program said that the State government has taken several steps to ensure holistic development in the last three and half years.
“Our vision is to transform Meghalaya into one of the top ten states in the country by 2030. To achieve this, we have been working tirelessly to improve the well-being of our farmers, women, youth, and every section of the society. To take this further, we want citizen participation and engagement in the governance process,” the Chief Minister said.
Sangma said the program will bring transformation in governance by citizen participation, engagement, and empowerment.
Stating that the government has taken many initiatives to promote inclusive development through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS), Self-Help Groups (NRLM), Jal Jeevan Mission etc, the Chief Minister informed that the government has spent Rs 1370 crore and transferred about Rs 15,000 per annum into accounts of about 6 lakh households in the state under the MNREGS.
He said more than 33,000 number of self-help groups have been formed in the last three years and have provided them funding support of about Rs 8.4 Crore this year. In the last two years, the government has constructed about 1000 Kms of rural roads, provided household tap connections to 1.3 lakh number of households, he added.
The government believes that MyMeG platform will accelerate the pace of development in Meghalaya and emerge as the top 10 state by 2030.
