The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) will consider whether or not to rotate the cabinet berths it holds in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government only after the Assembly session.
The part currently has four MLAs, two of whom – Banteidor Lyngdoh and Hamletson Dohling – hold ministerial posts. The other two legislators from the party are Gavin Mylliem and Jason Sawkmie Mawlong. All four, as it happens, are first-time MLAs. Lyngdoh is the president of the PDF while Dohling is the working president.
Unlike other coalition allies, the PDF’s members did not forge an agreement before the government was formed for sharing cabinet berths, Dohling said.
Both he and Lyngdoh are keen to hold onto their ministerial positions, he added, stating, “We don’t want a newly-formed party like the PDF to be a victim of any misunderstanding and everything will be done with mutual understanding among the members.”
