Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui today announced that the Jaiñtia Eastern College will avail benefits under the state government’s People’s College Scheme (PCS).
During a gathering held at the college, Rymbui said that salaries of all the 26 lecturers, library assistant and UDAs of the college will be borne by the State government.
The education minister also informed that the government has earmarked Rs 2 crore annually for the college.
Under this Scheme financial aid will be provided to community managed colleges around the state. Some of the colleges in Jaiñtia Hills, apart from Nongtalang College, selected to avail benefits include Shangpung College and Jaiñtia Eastern College while the other colleges in the State include Nongstoiñ College, Ri Bhoi College, Tirot Sing College, Tura Christian College, Chokpot College and Ampati College.
