Meghalaya popular international kickboxer, Hameshaniah Suiam bagged gold and silver medals at the Wako India Seniors & Masters National Kickboxing Championship in Mapusa, Goa which concluded on August 29.
Suiam bagged the two medals under the Senior Men Point Fighting -57 kg and 63 kg.
Meghalaya also won four bronze medals through Nisanshwa Lyngdoh (Senior Women K1 -48 kg), Bantei Sungoh (Senior Men Low Kick – 60 kg), Arthur Cornelli N K (Senior Men K1 – 75 kg) and Pynnehbor Mylliemngap (Senior Men Musical Form Hard Style).
The State had sent 22 kickboxers and officials including two women athletes to the championship organised by the Amateur Sports Kickboxing Association of Goa under the aegis of WAKO India Kickboxing Federation.
The championship is the first-stage trial selection for the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, 2022 to be held in Bangkok Chonburi as well as for the World Kickboxing Championship in Italy.
