The Minister of State in the Union Ministry of AYUSH, Dr Mahendra Munjapara, today visited the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Dr Munjapara also paid a visit to the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) at Mawdiangdiang where he was received by KHADC Chairman, Pyniaid Sing Syiem.
Others present on the occasion included Director of Health Services Dr Aman Warr.
“Visited North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH) Shillong Meghalaya today and interacted with students as well as professors of the college,” Dr Munjapara tweeted.
After this, on the invitation of Syiem, the junior minister paid a visit to the KHADC and met Chief Executive Member Titos W Chyne and his executive members.
The KHADC Chairman expressed his appreciation that Dr Munjapara has assured that the ministry will cooperate with the district council to promote the traditional healers of the state to preserve herbal plants.
Syiem also informed that the KHADC has the Khasi Hills Traditional Medicine Commission (KHTMC) with the objective to recognise these traditional healers. The CEM informed that the minister expressed keenness in providing assistance to traditional healers.
Meanwhile, Chyne said that construction of the council’s planned Traditional Medicine Institute at Lum Sohpetbneng is nearing completion.
“We have asked him (Dr Munjapara) to inaugurate our institute once it is completed,” the CEM added.
