United Democratic Party (UDP) president, Metbah Lyngdoh on Thursday has ruled out forming of an alternative government sans the National People’s Party (NPP).
“As of now we have ruled out. We can’t do anything. We have only seven MLAs,” the UDP president said.
On Thursday the Congress had said that they will be writing to the partners supporting the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition government to discuss the need for a new dispensation.
Lyngdoh who is also the Meghalaya Assembly Speaker also said that the UDP has not yet received the letter.
On relieving Lahkmen Rymbui as Home Minister, which the Chief Minister was yet to accept, , Lyngdoh said that the matter lies with the CM.
The UDP chief also said that he does not see unrest in the state as is being made out to be.
“It was there only on the day of the funeral (of Cheristerfield Thangkhiew),” Lyngdoh said.
