The State government has barred entry of visitors into the two secretariat buildings here following sudden surge in Covid cases among the staff.
The order was issued by Additional Chief Secretary, Secretariat Administration Department, Donald P. Wahlang today.
“In view of the sudden rise of positive cases among the working staff of Main Secretariat including Yojna Bhavan and Additional Secretariat, no visitor will be allowed to enters the secretariat buildings with immediate effect from August 4 till further orders without proper authorisation from VIPs/officers,” the order said.
It may be mentioned that some Covid positive cases were also reported from the Press Wing of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly at Khyndai Lad here forcing the authorities to shut the office for a few days.
However, it is unclear if the matter has come to the knowledge of the Health Department or district administration for necessary steps to contain the spread of the virus.
