As part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations to commemorate 50 years of India’s magnificent victory over Pakistan in 1971, the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was received by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma at Polo Ground, here today.
Addressing the gathering the Chief Minister said, “We salute the Martyrs, who made supreme sacrifice for the country and we must continue to respect the Armed Forces for their devotion and dedication towards the Nation.”
Sangma also emphasized that youth must take inspiration from this and choose the right path to serve the Nation.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries of Meghalaya, Senior Military and Police Officials and Ex Servicemen of Meghalaya.
The Mashaal commenced its journey from National War Memorial, New Delhi on December 16, 2020 entered Meghalaya on July 27. The victory flame is to honour the valour and sacrifice of Indian Armed Forces in the war and to rejoice in the liberation of Bangladesh.
