The recently-launched project to undertake a massive tree plantation drive in the Sohra region is part of a plot to shoehorn the Assam Rifles into the area.
The project was launched on Sunday by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who informed that Assam Rifles will adopt Sohra for the purposes of this initiative.
Member of the Khasi Students Union’s Sohra circle, Carmel Fedrick Malngiang, said today that the KSU will stand firm to protect the land of the indigenous people and not allow any army regiment to intrude into the region.
