Irked by the recent assault of a female resident and her son by a group of masked youth, the Dorbar Shnong Jaiaw Laitdom has today warned against interference by any organisation or individual in construction works within the locality.
The executive committee of Dorbar Shnong Jaiaw Laitdom which met here yesterday has strongly condemned the assault of a woman and her son by a group of masked youths on July 17 at around 4:30 pm near their house at Jaiaw St Joseph Road.
“The lady who is a respectable person in our locality and her son were dropping materials brought from Guwahati in a vehicle having Assam registration. Suddenly, a group of masked Khasi boys appeared and severely assaulted her and her son. They even smashed her son’s mobile phone into pieces to avoid being filmed about the incident,” said Dorbar Shnong Jaiaw Laitdom in a press statement.
Terming the incident as “savage” and “unacceptable”, the Dorbar Shnong also urged the police to trace and arrest all the persons involved in the assault.
“Since these kinds of incidents have occurred many times in our locality, we therefore warned against any attempt by any organisation or individual to inspect or interfere with any construction work in areas within the jurisdiction of Dorbar Shnong Jaiaw Laitdom. Any violation will be dealt with firmly,” the statement said.
