The District Magistrate of Ri-Bhoi has passed an order under Section 144 of the CrPC banning the flying of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) within 3km of the perimeter of Umroi Airport.
Such vehicles could distract and disturb the air traffic controllers that guide aeroplanes in and out of the airport, the order said.
Violators could find their right to fly such vehicles suspended or cancelled and face legal action under the Indian Penal Code, Aircraft Act 1934, Aircraft Rules 1937, etc.
