Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and chief ministers of Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram will discuss with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow over the prevailing Covid-19 situation in these states.
During the meeting to be held via video conferencing, the Prime Minister will review the Covid situation and measures to tackle the pandemic in each state of the North East.
On July 7, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla had interacted with chief secretaries and health officials of the eight North East states on the Covid situation in the region.
During the meeting, current status and trends on the active cases, Case Fatality Rate (CFR), Case Positivity Rate (CPR) and vaccination status was discussed. The Union Home Secretary emphasised to follow five-fold strategy of Test-Track-Treat-Vaccinate and COVID appropriate behaviour
North East accounts for over 62 per cent of the country’s 77 high positivity districts.
Districts having more than 10 per cent positivity are identified as ‘districts of concern’ which require greater attention.
According to the Health Ministry, Arunachal Pradesh has 19 of such districts; Manipur has eight, Meghalaya seven. There are four each in Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, and two in Assam.
