The latest batch of trainee Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) officers met Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today at the inauguration of the induction training programme here.
The training was inaugurated by Sangma in the presence of dignitaries from the state government, Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) officials and staff.
There are 38 trainee officers hailing from eight districts of Meghalaya.
The trainees are from various educational and professional backgrounds, ages and genders. The programme they are now undergoing will be a six-month intensive in-house training regime, which will strive to equip the officer trainees with the skills, knowledge and attitude for performing their duties effectively and efficiently. It is also the first time the state is conducting an in-house training programme for the MCS.
In his address, the Chief Minister congratulated the trainee officers on successfully clearing the exam and joining the MCS.
The inauguration ended with an oath-taking ceremony administered by the Additional Chief Secretary and Director General of MATI, Rebecca V Suchiang.
The inauguration event was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary DP Wahlang, Principal Secretary Shakil Ahmed, Commissioner and Secretary Ripnar Lyndoh and Secretary Cyril Diengdoh.
