The Shillong City working president of the National People’s Party (NPP), Anthony N Nongbri, today said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, MLAs and MDCs should utilise the funds allotted to them to ease the burden of the people of the state who are facing financial crunch due to unemployment due to the lockdown.
“These are difficult times, and all the MLAs and MDCs should offer financial assistance to their constituents so that they can pay their rent and school fees of the children,” Nongbri said.
He said that at this moment the poor and the needy need food on the table as well as rent to pay for their accommodation.
Meanwhile, the East Shillong unit of the NPP distributed food items to around 60 households of Cleve Colony and adjoining areas today.
According to the party, it has been able to so far extend help to more than 500 families in the Malki area.
