Containment measures will continue in East Jaintia Hills district administration until June 14, the district administration announced yesterday.
The order was issued in view of the number of Covid-19 cases in the district still being high, with significant spread in villages. The district has recorded 117 new coronavirus infections as of today.
The District Magistrate has restricted inter-state movement of persons. This will not apply for transit vehicles of Assam, Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram.
Political, public, social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conferences, meetings and training. Entry of tourists from outside the state shall not be permitted and all tourist spots shall remain closed. Authorized home deliveries services, E-commerce activities and courier services are permitted subject to prior permission and regulations by the office of the district magistrate.
In-situ construction for government projects that do not involve movement of labour are permitted with due permission from the district magistrate. In-situ construction on private projects that do not involve movement of labour are permitted subject to prior permission due regulation of the district magistrate.
Standalone neighbourhood shops will be permitted from 2pm to 6pm only. Limited non-essential economic activities are permitted on recommendation of the Block Development Officer Khliehriat or Saipung where the prevalence of active Covid-I9 cases is nil or very low.
Funeral gatherings will be restricted to 20 persons with prior permission of the district magistrate. Weddings are not permitted.
Major market areas of Khliehriat East and West, whole of Ladrymbai, Umpleng, Chiehruphi, Lumshnong, Sohkymphor, Sookilo, Saipung, Samasi, Jalaphet, Rymbai, Wapung, Sutnga, Bataw, Mynkre and Umkiang markets shall remain closed during the containment period, except for medical stops. All major markets are allowed to open only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
