Residents of Sohra experienced a sultry 30.4 degrees Celsius today, the highest temperature ever recorded in the month of May in the ‘wettest place on Earth’.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the previous high for May was 59 years ago when the thermometer reached 30.2 deg C on May 26, 1962.
The average high over the previous 10 years in Sohra has been around 26.8 deg C, making today hotter by quite some margin.
