Mylliem MDC Ronnie V Lyngdoh has strongly criticised the state government for allegedly ignoring the district council members in the battle against Covid-19.
“With the virus spreading so much and fatalities increasing due to the coronavirus, the MDCs were never taken on board for them to give their views and suggestions in the fight against the pandemic and it seems that the government considers us second class citizens,” Lyngdoh told Highland Post.
Stating that in the present situation people are left to fend for themselves, he said, “As elected representatives, the MDCs meet a lot of people but have no idea about the government’s preparations we have never been taken into confidence on this matter.”
Not just the government, but even the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has yet to call its MDCs together for a meeting on Covid-19.
Lyngdoh stated that in such a pandemic no one should play politics and party affiliations should be set aside.
