A case of forgery was raised by the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital today with police in West Khasi Hills after three birth certificates bearing her name were detected.
According to the MS, Dr J Lyndem, three birth certificates were issued after forging her name.
Police said the birth certificates were taken by one Krelina Kharbani to the Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital for corrections. However, the doctor detected that her seal and signature was forged in all of them.
The woman also admitted that she had paid Rs 1500 for the birth certificates to a man (name not revealed).
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and investigation is on.
