The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) observed the World Homeopathy Day to mark the 226th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, founder of the homeopathic system of health care, at the campus in Mawdiangdiang here today.

Former Director of the National Institute of Homeopathy, Kolkata Prof (Dr) Samir Kumar Bhattacharya who attended the occasion as the chief guest highlighted the importance of Dr. Hahnemann as a chemist apart from being the founder of Homoeopath. He said the chemist added lights on believing and excelling in one’s own system of medicine.

Assistant Professor of the Government Ayurvedic College Dr Pradyumna Goswami stressed on the importance of utilizing adequate skills in medical practices irrespective of the medical system. He appealed to the students to think out of the box to give service to the society.

The function was followed by a scientific session where a series of lectures were delivered by the guests.

In West Jaiñtia Hills district, the District Medical & Health Officer along with the Department of Ayush celebrated the day at Tpep Pale Community Hall, Jowai under the theme “Homoeopathy- Roadmap for integrative Medicine.”

Additional Deputy Commissioner DD Syngai who graced the occasion as the chief guest said based on personal experiences homoeopathy medicine is efficient and effective. “It has effectiveness to cure the disease for which medicine is taken, but one requires patience as it is not an instant cure,” she said.

She exhorted homeopathic doctors to be familiar with the advances and changes in the field of medicines. She also expressed her hope that in future homeopathy would be one of the cures of the diseases for which allopathic medicines may not have a cure.
