Due to the risk that the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic could spread to Meghalaya, the district administration of Ri-Bhoi conducted random Covid-19 tests today along with cracking down on those not wearing facemasks in public.
Officials, supported by police, conducted this drive in the area around MUDA Market Complex here.
Extra Assistant Commissioner R Kharbihkhiew cautioned the public to maintain physical distance, mask discipline and frequent washing of hands to help keep Covid-19 numbers in the district low.
In a press briefing, Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah also urged the Dorbar Shnongs to activate their Covid-19 management committees.
