Thma U Rangli-Juki (TUR) has condemned the assault on youths in Golf Links while also conveying its condolences to the bereaved family members.
Demanding quick and thorough investigation into the incident, TUR in a statement said, “Perpetrators of this dastardly act should face legal consequences of their actions.”
TUR also urged people not to fall trap to rumours and mischievous spinning of the incidents to create hateful atmosphere in the society. “Violence of any kind has to be condemned and our condemnation has to be based not on ethnic basis or identity politics. History of our place is replete with instances of our identity coloured selective outrage. What our society needs is a collective will towards a peace based on justice and truth,” TUR said.
Meanwhile, the GSU also condemned the incident. “We condemn the assault and urge the concerned authorities to take the matter seriously so that justice can be served at the earliest,” said general secretary Fremiush D Marak.
The pressure group called for regular patrols by police in the area because the area, it said, has become a “den for many unlawful activities”.
“The GSU, as an organization feels that these type of activities should be condemned by each and every individual of society as it disrupts the universal brotherhood and harmony in the state,” Marak added.
