The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) celebrated World Social Work Day 2021 today at a programme organized by the Department of Social Work.
Padmashree Trinity Saioo, an organic farming pioneer from Meghalaya, and Jahnabi Goswami, an HIV/AIDS activist from Assam, were bestowed with the USTM Social Work Excellence Award 2021.
Saioo appealed to the students to selflessly work for the betterment of society. “Nothing in the world can give us more peace then helping needy people,” she said.
Goswami, meanwhile, called for kindness and humility towards the people with HIV/AIDS.
The departmental newsletter ‘Social Work Buzz’ and the wall magazine of the Social Work Department were formally inaugurated by the dignitaries on the occasion.
