An awareness program on teenage pregnancy was held at Damal Asim Village under Dadenggre CHC today.
During the program SDO(C) Jagdish Chelani, briefed the gathering about the various issues of teenage pregnancy and the programs about sensitising people on the critical issues of teenage pregnancy and institutional delivery.
BDO Dadenggre, Nipon Hajong also spoke during the program and urged people to use the various facilities being provided by the government to ensure safe and sound health to the villagers and the population in general.
During the program the issue of teenage pregnancy was dealt with at length by Dr. D. Marak and urged pregnant women to register themselves at the earliest at the nearest government medical outlets to benefit from the various schemes being provided by the government and to make use of institutional deliveries for healthy delivery.
The program was aimed to bring to the notice of the villagers the prevalence of teenage pregnancy and early marriage and the long term effects which it has on the health of the young mothers and their child.
As part of programme, outreach activities were also conducted to reach out to the target audience through different games, quiz and dance competitions.
