Reacting to reports of the Administrator of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) issuing an order asking employees to return to work, the Non Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) has denied receiving any order to the effect.
The Administrator, if media reports are to be believed, had ordered the agitating employees to resume work or take a one-time settlement and leave the council.
“We are agitating for our fundamental rights as they are denying paying the salary for 32 months. The Administrator, instead of hunting the NGEA and employees, should take strong action against those officers, contractors, MDCs and others that were indulging in corruption,” said NGEA Joint Secretary Flaming Marak through a press release.
The NGEA further stated that resolution to abstain from duty, boycott the election of GHADC and also to stop the supply of water from GHADC was adopted and decided last Thursday as a mark of protest against the state government for refusing to release the royalty share of Rs 55 crore to the GHADC.
The NGEA further accused the state government of ignoring and neglecting the GHADC employees with the intention of depriving them.
They further accused the CM of lying to the public after claiming that an amount of Rs 46.57 crore had been released to the GHADC on April 3 last year for the payment of salaries from March 2018.
