A man and a woman were charred to death in a horrific fire that engulfed their house in the Nonglum Rngi locality of Mawlynrei village, East Khasi Hills, early today morning.
The deceased were identified as Michael Marboh (33) and Belinda Kharumnuid (38). The couple left behind a 12-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son. The children, however, were unharmed as they were staying with their grandmother at the time.
The bodies were taken for post-mortem at the Shillong Civil Hospital before being laid to rest at the Catholic Cemetery in Mawlynrei.
