The youth wing of the Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has demanded that the state government increase the upper age limit for public sector jobs to 40.
In a petition to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, the KHNAM youth wing President, Thomas Passah, pointed out that Assam has increased its age limit from 38 to 40 years, with special relaxations for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe applicants and people with disabilities. Tripura, meanwhile, as an upper age limit of 41, he said.
KHNAM has been campaigning for an increase in the age limit since 2018, but the party feels that the matter is of the greatest importance now after the havoc wreaked by the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
