The first ever sanitary pad production unit in Garo Hills was inaugurated by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh at Te’bronggre village, West Garo Hills, today.
The credit of successfully bringing this unit belongs to a self-help group in Te’bronggre and its surrounding villages who worked along with the financial assistance of the coordinators and officers of National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
SHGs were started in Te’bronggre in 2016 as the women there did not have any source of income. With the introduction of these SHGs and commencement of different works, the women were gradually able to strengthen themselves and earn a means of livelihood.
