Expressing his deep displeasure for being sidelined by the State BJP, party legislator of South Shillong, Sanbor Shullai today maintained that he is not aware of a single activity taken by the party till date.
“Right from the beginning I am not aware of any of the activities of the State BJP and as BJP elected MLA I am going alone,” he told Highland Post.
“I am an elected representative and if they have not consulted me on a single matter then why should I coordinate with them,” he said.
When asked about the statement made by State NPP president Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi who had said that the BJP might not be invited to the MDA coordination committee meeting when it is held, Shullai said, “They might not call the BJP but they will call me.”
A few days back, Shullai had stated that he was not aware nor consulted about the decision of the State party leadership to approach Meghalaya Lokayukta for inquiry into the siphoning of central funds in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) and the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
He claimed that even several senior leaders including his party colleagues are not aware of it.
Shullai, however, said that nobody in the government will support corruption and any differences among the party in the alliance but it should be discussed in an appropriate forum.
He said that he is clear about his stance and wanted party leaders to wait for the MDA coordination committee to meet before coming to any conclusion.
Shullai said that he along with senior leaders of the party will meet central leaders, state in-charge, and NEDA chief Himanta Biswa Sharma after Christmas to seek clarity on many issues related to the State party leadership.
Stating that there are several issues with regards to the State party leadership which he wanted to discuss with central party leaders, Shullai said that after discussing the matter with central leaders he will take an appropriate decision regarding the issues raised by State party leaders.
It may be noted that the State BJP has alleged about huge corruption amounting to crores of rupees sanctioned under the Special Assistance Grant in the JHADC and GHADC and demanded for a CBI probe. However, the State government ordered an audit of the GHADC for five years starting from 2015.
