A citizens group, Ka Sur u Paidbah Ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep today met Agriculture Minister BanteidorLyngdoh to apprise him of the various issues that requires attention from the State government.
The group took up the border issue, inclusion of the Khasi Language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, Clan Bill, Inner Line Permit, Lineage Act, Land Bill and other issues.
Speaking to reporters Chairman of the group RastingwellThabahtermed the meeting with the minister as positive and said that they are hopeful of the assurance given by him that he will take up the issues raised with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
“We urged the CM to come forward and speak to the people of Meghalaya publicly on the status of ILP that is still stuck in Delhi to date, even though an official resolution on this has been passed by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly since December 2019,” he said adding that they will continue to meet the leaders of various political parties to apprise them on these issues.
He said that they will also meet the Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council on the delay to get the approval of the Clan bill, Lineage Act and Land Bill.
