Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) new chairman, Paul Reader Marwein today said that certain reforms within commission will be brought in to ease hardships of job aspirants.

Marwein, a technocrat was recently appointed to the post while serving as a Secretary to the Public Works Department (PWD) said an enormous task is ahead of him to fast track works in the commission through the use of technology.

Informing that the MPSC has only one computer assistant, Marwein felt the need to strengthen the Information Technology cell of the commission to fast track recruitments.

“The system is already there in the MPSC, but we need to fast track works so that job aspirants should benefit,” he said, adding that though the commission cannot satisfy all aspirants, efficiency in conducting exams and timely declaration of results would instill confidence in the youth.

Talking about transparency and accountability in the recruitment process by the MPSC, the new chairman said that no doubt the commission was questioned in the past, but this comes because of delays in recruitment and others.

“I don’t see any chance of manipulations. During our years we have a number of posts but few applicants. But now time has changed. For a single post we have hundreds and thousands of job aspirants. So when things get delayed, people think otherwise,” he stated.

Stating that the MPSC has a number of backlogs to clear he said under his chair, the office will try to clear them in the best possible ways and to do our work at a much faster pace coupled with the benefits technology has so that job aspirants will not lose hope in the system.
