Union DONER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has assured that the Centre would provide assistance for setting up of an Infectious Diseases Hospital in Meghalaya.
Dr. Singh gave the assurance to Meghalaya Health Minister A L Hek who met the latter in New Delhi today.
“I met the DONER Minister in Delhi today and he informed me that the Centre would sanction funds for setting up of an Infectious Diseases Hospital in Meghalaya,” Hek told this reporter over phone from New Delhi.
Hek also said that he discussed with the DONER Minister on financial aid to ASHA workers, Aganwadi workers, ANM personnel, and Covid Community Management Committees (CCMCs) from the PM Cares Fund.
According to Hek, there are 6778 ASHA workers, 5896 Aganwadi workers and 7000 CCMCs operating in various parts of the State.
On the shortage of funds by the State government in tackling the economic impact of Covid-19 pandemic, Hek said that he urged Singh to provide a special package for Meghalaya through the North Eastern Council (NEC).
“The DONER Minister has assured to look into this matter and find ways and means to help our State financially,” Hek said.
