Another record day of recoveries from Covid-19 was reported in Meghalaya today, with 311 people judged free of the disease.
Fifty-four new infections were also reported, which brought the number of active cases down to 1515. There were no fatalities reported.
Of the new recoveries, the majority is from East Khasi Hills with 234. The number of active cases dropped below 1,000 the district. East Jaiñtia Hills recorded 51 recoveries, in Ri-Bhoi 16, West Garo Hills seven, West Khasi Hills two and in West Jaiñtia Hills one.
The total number of recoveries has gone up to 3654.
Director of Health Services, Dr. Aman War (MI) informed that of the 54 new infections, East Khasi Hills reported 31, West Garo Hills 12, East Garo Hills six, two in Ri Bhoi and one each in South Garo Hills, West Jaiñtia Hills and East Jaiñtia Hills.
Dr. War informed that till date, swab samples of 1,42,426 persons have been sent for testing, the medical official said, adding that 73,746 swab samples were tested in CB-NAAT, Truenat and Rapid Antigen Test, while 63,468 were tested by RT-PCR.
Meghalaya has detected a total of 5, 212 COVID-19 out of which 1,515 are active cases, 3,654 recovered and 43 deaths.
He said while 3,343 Covid-19 patients have been discharged till Saturday, 1,103 patients are undergoing institutional quarantine while 107 others are on home quarantine and isolation.
