Shillong, Sep 18 : District Council Affairs Minister Hameltson Dohling today said that he has not received any complaint regarding alleged misappropriation of funds in the autonomous district councils.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had claimed that there was rampant corruption in the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) and its Garo Hills counterpart (GHADC).
“We have come to learn about the allegations only through media reports. An enquiry cannot be constituted without any authentication backed with facts,” Dohling said.
The minister, however, clarified that this does not mean that the government is not interested in finding out the facts. If the government feels that the BJP allegations are authentic then an inquiry will be constituted, he said.
