Nongpoh, Nov 5: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Nongpoh Circle, has submitted a memorandum to Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Dr. Abhishek Saini, flagging the delay in making streetlights operational along the National Highway in Nongpoh town and other parts of the district.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Circle President Precious Khymdeit said that despite installation being completed more than a year ago, the streetlights are yet to be switched on.
He also raised concern over the stability of the poles, warning that improperly secured structures could pose a risk to the public in busy areas. He urged the DC to inspect the installations and ensure the poles are properly secured before commissioning.
On the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment examination, Khymdeit said the organisation reiterated its demand for transparency through public release of answer keys and candidates’ marks.
He said the DC assured that the answer keys would be released within a few days, though candidates’ marks could not be made public at this stage.
